We are so excited to welcome Dr Vannessa to our team!

Dr Vann started with us in January & has been a fabulous addition to our clinic. She is enthusiastic, passionate & dedicated to providing gold standard patient care & a personable experience for her clients.

Dr Vann also completed her year 10 work experience with us at Quakers Hill Vet & has been a loyal client for many years with her family pets.

We asked her some get to know you questions

What inspired you to be a veterinarian?
As a kid, and like most kids, I absolutely adored animals. When we would talk about the jobs we wanted to do growing up, I would always say I wanted one where I would be able to work with and care for animals. That goal very easily led me to pursuing a career as a veterinarian.

I was also very fortunate to have worked in supportive roles at local veterinary clinics, and was continually motivated to pursue a career as a veterinarian when getting to know patients and their owners, and when seeing the many roles that vets would play when diagnosing and caring for their patients.

What aspects of the job are you most interested in?
As a vet, we see patients at many stages of their life, from puppy vaccinations to end of life care, and at each of these stages, the communication and teamwork that we have with owners has been so integral to the care that we provide their pets.

As a new graduate vet, I’ve been really passionate about maintaining this communication with owners, making sure that they have the information they need to make decisions regarding their pet’s health

Tell us about your pet
I have one dog called Arya. She’s a Labrador x Kelpie, and she is subjectively the best girl. I adopted Arya when she was about three years old, following the loss of our previous pet, and since then she has been a source of joy and absolute chaos in my life. Some of her many passions include chasing birds, neighbourhood surveillance, treats – all of which she takes quite seriously.

What do you do outside of work?
Outside of work, I really enjoy being outdoors, reading, and trying out new recipes with family and friends (much to their concern). Recently, I’ve also been trying my hand at crocheting, and am currently learning how to crochet a little goat for a friend.
