Cryotherapy.

Cryotherapy is the use of liquid nitrogen to freeze & destroy tissues for a medical benefit.

Uses of cryotherapy at Quakers Hill Veterinary Hospital include:

  • distichiae (extra hairs along eyelid margins)
  • denuding hairs in the medial canthi causing epiphora (tears down face)
  • adjunct or primary treatment for eyelid tumours (histiocytomas, mast cell tumour, melanomna)
  • ocular tumour (melanoma, haemangiosarcoma)
  • glaucoma – cryocycloablation
  • nasal squamous cell carcinoma in cats
  • perianal adenomas
  • adjunct to surgery for oral epuli
  • arrest development of warts
